Which is worse, Sugar or cigarette?
Smoking is no longer as 'fashionable'
as before
In the last few decades, so much has been done to discourage smoking that
smoking has been identified as a marginalized and 'bad' habit, at least in the
developed world. Now in the western world, cigarette packets are white, and
they contain disgusting images of smoking-related diseases - which may leave
many people wishing to smoke.
Many people think that something like sugar, sugar may have to do
something like this.
A lot of taxes have been imposed on sugar-filled drinks or soft drinks.
Now a research firm called the British Institute of Public Policy Research says
these drinks and sweets and snacks, should also be marketed in white - to make
it look less attractive.
Tom Kibassi, director of IPPR, says that if you start selling plain
packaging in non-white white packets, there may be a big change in controlling
excess sugar intake.
He also said that banning the advertisement of junk food or fast food is
banned.
News has come out that government ministers in Britain are also thinking
about the matter.
But many are questioning whether the matter will be exacerbated.
Large companies associated with the production and marketing of
sugar-laden foods have already raised their objections. They say it's against
commercial and competitive freedom.
But the tobacco industry once raised the same argument, but it could not
suppress the government's stringent anti-smoking stance.
In Britain, when health activists and academics were demanding a ban on
smoking in public places, the government initially ignored it. But later that
changed.
In Britain, the number of smokers has dropped by a third in the last ten
years due to various measures. Many people even talk about the invention of
vaping or e-cigarettes because of this, but strict government policy has
undoubtedly played a major role.
